About Ottewell

Ottewell community is situated in south east Edmonton and was named after one of the first settlers in the area, Ottewell family. This large and mature neighbourhood offers quick access to Wayne Gretzky Drive, Sherwood Park freeway, as well as relatively quick commute to Downtown core and Universtiy grounds. There are five schools in the area: Braemer Public School, Clara Tyner Elementary School, Ottewell Junior High School, Austin O'Brien High School, and St. Brendan Catholic Elementary School. Capilano Mall can be found just north of Ottewell, across 98 avenue. Some of the first development in Ottewell occurred after World War II with majority of homes built in the 1960s. Single detached homes are the most common type of the dwelling found in the area with apartment style condos and duplexes accounting for about 20% of the homes. First time home buyers are attracted to this mature and quite neighbourhood, where properties are selling at reasonable prices compared to the rest of Edmonton.
