About Avonmore

Avonmore community is situated in southeast Edmonton, next to Mill Creek Ravine. Named after a river in Ireland, the majority of Avonmore residential development occurred in 1950s with some homes dating back to 1920s. Single detached bungalows are the most common type of the dwelling found in the area. The Avonmore Public Elementary School is found in this neighbourhood on 78 Street and beside it is The Metro Continuing Education; which is a public school that offers programs such as English as a Second Language, Adults Continuing Education, Elementary and Junior High Programs and High School and Upgrading. West onto 73 Avenue is Avonmore Park which has a community league hall which offers activities for the whole family to get involved with. To the east on Argyll Road is a McDonalds, 7- Eleven, and Edmonton Reuse Centre. Northwest of that on 83 Street, you’ll find the Community of Christ/ Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Right across Argyll Road on 75th street, are tons of restaurants, businesses and easy access to 75th street, a popular road that runs through the city.
