About Caernarvon

Caernarvon is a mature neighbourhood in Northwest Edmonton, and is part of the Castledowns area. Borders are between 153 Avenue along the north, 145 Avenue along the south, Castledowns road on the east, and approximately a half block east along 121 Street. This area was essentially farm land till annexed by the city in the early 1960's, then developed throughout the 1970's & 1980's, offering a mixed variety of housing types, commercial space, 2 schools and recreational space. All the communities in Castledowns are named for known castles, thus this neighbourhood is named after the historic Caernarvon castle in Wales. In the neighbourhood's core on 118 street you’ll find Caernarvon Public Elementary School, Katherine Therrien Catholic Elementary School Caernarvon Park, Caernarvon Community League and some amenities like; 7-Eleven, Dental Centre, daycare, resteraunts and a pub. More amenities are found on 152 Avenue containing a pharmacy, medical & wellness centre, barbershop and Mac’s. Public Transit runs throughout the neighbourhood and the Castle Downs Transit Centre is nearby.
