Sherwood

Sherwood is a mature community in west Edmonton, for which the borders are between 92ave & 95ave and 149str & 156str. Before being annexed by Edmonton in 1964, this area was part of the Town of Jasper Place. The majority of development occurred thereafter, offering primarily single detached homes, however, there are some low rise apartments and row houses. Due to its location and relative affordability, this neighbourhood has been undergoing revitalization and infilling over the last several years. Amenities are nearby along Stony Plain Road, Meadowlark Health & Shopping Centre, Mayfield Common and MacEwan University Faculty of Fine Arts and Communication. The name of this community is thought to come from the fabled Sherwood Forest in "Robin Hood".
