About Sweet Grass

Sweet Grass is a residential area in Southwest Edmonton, with parameters running between 111 & 119 street, and 34 avenue & Saddleback Road. This area was annexed by Edmonton in 1964, however the majority of development did not occur till the nineteen seventies and eighties, and offers mostly single detached homes with some row houses and low rise apartments. Sweet Grass also offers a school, recreational green space, and quick access to major routes and amenities such as those found along 111 street, Century Park, and the Derrick Golf & Winter Club, Century Park LRT station, and medical services. This community was named for prominent Albertan Cree Chief Sweet Grass, who is recognized for his efforts in conservation and work to save the Bison. Some of the businesses, amenities, and schools in Sweet Grass and nearby are: Providence Centre, Canada Life Care, 7-eleven, Hair Artitude Saloon, Basha Donair, Hearing Life, and Sweet Grass School. This mature neighbourhood offers quick access to 23 Avenue, Whitemud Drive, and Calgary Trail.
