Terra Losa is a West Edmonton community whose borders are between 170 & 178 Street, and 99 & 95 Avenue. A unique community in that it is a deliberate blend of residential and commercial, development began slowly in the nineteen seventies, with the majority occurring in the nineteen nineties. Particularly efficient land use is in evidence as there are no single detached homes at all, only townhouses, low and mid rise apartments! Yet this community still offers its residents green space, formal park, and a generous artificial lake, not to mention the variety of amenities available in the commercial portion of the area. Amenities and businesses in Terra Losa are: Home Depoit, Canadian Tire, Mark's Warehouse, Tim Hortson's, Arby's, Hooters Restaurant, Schanks Sports Grill, Canadian Western Bank, New Asian Village, Salon de Artist, A & J Driving School, Xiao Ping Spa, Royal Pizza, Health Matters Store & Health Clinic, Terra Losa Shopping Centre, Panago Pizza, Shoppers Drug Mart, Safeway, Marshalls, Pizza 73, Wendy's, Starbucks, Dulux Paint, and so much more. Terra Losa also offers close proximity to West Edmonton Mall and the Misericordia Hospital. Notable as well, this community was named for a prominent Edmontonian; Vittorio Losa (1905-1987), an Italian immigrant who contributed towards his craft of watchmaking as well as officially assisting fellow Italian immigrants to integrate, in his role as appointed 'Royal Consul' by the Italian monarchy.
