About Terwillegar

Terwillegar is actually two separate neighbourhoods in Southwest Edmonton. First to be developed was Terwillegar Towne, commencing in the mid nineties, the borders for which are between 23ave & Terwillegar Blvd and Rabbit Hill Rd & Terwillegar Road. The majority of homes are single detached with few other types of dwellings. Popular for the distinctive traditional home styles and a return to back lanes, this community also offers schools, walk ways, water features, plenty of green space, proximity to Terwillegar Recreation Centre, Derrick Golf & Winter Club, shopping and South Edmonton Common. Terwillegar South, is situated on the south side of Terwillegar Towne, the borders for which are between Terwillegar Blvd, Rabbit Hill Road and Anthony Henday sweeping from the south up to the northwest edge. Higher density is noted with more mixed type housing, but single detached is the clear majority. Again, carefully planned to offer walkways, green space, and quick access to all amenities. The name Terwillegar comes from prominent Edmontonian, Dr. Norman L. Terwillegar, (1884-1948), well known in the medical community for tremendous service and contributions throughout his career
