About Dechene

Dechene community is situated in West Edmonton, between 184 Street and Lessard Road. Named after Joseph Dechene, the neighbourhood was annexed by the City of Edmonton in 1972. Most of the residential homes were built in the 1980’s. In the centre of Dechene resides Dechene Park, Saint Bruce Smith Catholic Junior High School, and the Good Shepherd Catholic Elementary School. On Dechene’s south border along Lessard Road are a variety of amenities including an Esso gas station, Co-op, Tim Hortons and more. Popular attractions are the North Saskatchewan River and River Valley which are just steps away offering natural viewpoints, multi-use trails, parks, and boat launches. Public transit is easily accessible in Dechene, which is also in close proximity to West Edmonton Mall, the Edmonton Country Club, Terwillegar Park, Fort Edmonton, and the Anthony Henday Freeway.
